When Patricia's hand touched it a small jolt of electricity jumped from it, zapping her lightly. Brushing it off as static electricity, the small girl examined it closely. It was made of gold, slightly tarnished from age, but had an odd sort of otherworldly charm to it. Set in the middle was a small ruby that seemed glow faintly when you glanced at it.
For some reason Patricia felt compelled to wear the pendant. It had a gold chain around it and it seemed like it would be a good fit. She didn't know why she wanted to. It didn't belong to her and she had no right to do such a thing. Still, It really couldn't hurt, she rationalized. If she wore it there'd be no chance of losing it. Plus, Todd would probably come looking for it. That'd give her another chance to talk to him. Setting in on that course of action, Patricia pulled it over her head, the chain just long enough to suspend the pendent slightly above her breasts.
If anyone had been around to notice, they would have seen the ruby glow brighter for a split second as it touched her skin. No one was however, and Patricia was too busy fighting off the gnawing hunger that had suddenly overcome her to notice herself. Pressing a hand to her small stomach, Patricia let out a small moan. "Ughnnnnn....when did I get so hungry? God, I'm starving! I need to get some food in me ASAP!" her belly rumbled in agreement, and the small girl set out for the nearest fast food joint, completely forgetting the reason shed come to the library in the first place.
