Just as you're about to move, you suddenly feel a sharp pain in your head, which fades with merciful quickness to leave a dull throbbing behind. Still dazed after the bright flash, you lean forward against the pod's door until it abruptly shoots open and you stumble out.
You rub your eyes and quickly confirm that you are, in fact, still yourself. You're slightly relieved, but mostly disappointed. All that excitement and it didn't work.
Mom exits the other pod, clutching her head. You hope the machine didn't do anything beyond inducing headaches. But you still feel a bit like you're in some crazy story, and it wouldn't be much of a story if the machine did nothing...
