As he checked out his high school classmates, they seemed to be similar to Scott, sporting some gray hair, lines around their eyes and quite a few looked like they were packing a few more pounds. Scott was feeling better about himself as he checked them out and then he came to Roy. Roy had been the best athlete in his class and the one that all the girls swooned over. Lots of muscle in his chest and shoulders tapering to a lean waist with a sixpack that Scott had envied but no amount of workouts seemed to give him. Well, Roy was now a successful contractor and from the picture, he must be double his high school weight. Those shoulders were still big but his narrow waist was now a huge belly, wider than his shoulders. Scott noticed that Roy was smiling. He looked like he had the world by the tail.. or maybe like he had just eaten it.
Scott added Roy to his friends list and when he finished sat for a moment thinking about Roy. He bet Roy didn't worry about a second helping at dinner or a donut at coffee break. Now his 40 inch belly didn't seem like much and his 36 inch pants were only up 2 inches from the 34's he wore in college. What would it be like to have a belly the size of Roy's, he wondered hefting himself up from the computer.
He stopped by the kitchen on the way to bed to see if the boys had left any of the pie from dinner.
"Those boys", he muttered when he found the plate empty, "They are going to eat me out of house and home."
Scott rummaged around some in the refrigerator looking for something to take the edge off the sudden hunger pangs. Finally he made a thick sandwich loaded with sliced beef and cheese and got out the milk and soon he was stuffing his face and draining the last of the milk carton. He patted his gut, now more stuffed than after dinner and belched softly. Then he went upstairs and crawled into bed.
