Lauren looks over the case of bracelets, and then at her wrist, which has a bunch of silicone bands and hand made friendship bracelets, and she realizes she should so grow up and get real jewelry, but since she likes having something on her wrist so much, a bracelet would be a great addition. Smiling she looks in the case as Mr. Lee comes over, sensing the girl is intrigued and likely to make a purchase. He smiles and speaks to her:
"Welcome miss, and I see you are looking to maybe upgrade your wrist jewelry. What you have is nice, very personal, and I am sure there would be something here that would compliment your interests. Each bracelet in this case has unique properties and I can explain each if you like" Lauren blinks "Properties, like different gemstones and grades of metal? I know all about that stuff and carats and like, stuff" Mr. Lee chuckles softly, since it is very clear she does not in fact know "all about that stuff" but she is a child and he senses a good one, so he nods "No, not the metal and gems, but what each bracelet can do, the power it represents"
Lauren pauses, and for some reason, the hair on the back of her neck stands up, a shiver down her spine, but she blinks and looks at him "Like, a symbol it stands for you mean?" Mr. Lee smiles warmly "More than merely a symbol, but an actual ability, a gift it grants the person who wears it." Lauren laughs "You almost sound like these are magic sir" He nods "Yes, magic, that is a way to describe it."
Lauren pauses, her jaw slack. She had thought she was joking, but he seems dead serious, and while part of her wants to walk out of the crackpot's store right now, there is something about all this that intrigues her. She laughs, but it is a dry laugh, wanting to appear skeptical, but weirded out a bit by all this. "Ok, so what do these ones do, the silver ones with pink stones here?" Gesturing to four in a rack inside the case.
Mr. Lee brings the case up the counter, and one by one, goes down the rack of four bracelets. "This one here, is keyed to size. It can make the wearer shrink down to whatever size they choose, with their clothes. The smaller they get, the more they are protected from harm by the charm." Lauren laughs and goes to say something, but stops as Mr. Lee goes on, and appears dead serious. "This one lets the wearer become a mermaid when they get wet...obviously need to be careful and do not shower with it on!" he chuckles and she thinks he is joking, but he goes on. "Third is one which allows the wearer to become a copy of any woman they are able to touch, even to having their voice and access to memories. Last one, well, not sure how useful it is, but allows the wearer to turn into liquid, and flow and move as such, able to reform at will, even though they would appear to simply be water"
Lauren laughs and look at him, her expression dropping, when she sees he is serious. Noting her dubious nature, he chuckles "I know you probably think I am a crazy old man, but please, try one on, I will allow you to see for yourself before you decide to buy one for your 16th birthday."
Now she is even more freaked out, because she clearly did not tell him it was for her own birthday, let alone what age she was. But she looks at the four bracelets:
