Chapter #11

Meeting Joan

    by: Hereward Author IconMail Icon
You unlock the door to the cell and step inside to see the one and only Joan of Arc lying upon a bed of straw, her eyes are wide open and are focused upon you in a bewildered look. You decide to try a little bit of French to reassure and to ask her a question that she will understand.

"Bonjour, madame." You greet her, she sits up on the straw. "Parlez-vous Anglais?" She looks at you with surprise before answering.

"I do." You sight with relief and approach her.

"I'm on your side." You whisper to her. "I aim to prevent you from being burned. We've got to leave tonight." Joan looks at you with bewilderment now.

"How?" She asks you. "I have no armour, no weapons." You tap on your teleporter and contact the on-board replicator. One minute later a suit of armour complete with sword and scabbard materialises in the cell. Astonished by this occurance Joan whispers a prayer in French, which you only just catch as a sort of grace.

You keep your eyes on the door as Joan changes into her armour, which happens to be an exact replica of her own fleur-de-lis ensemble. You're not just doing it for modesty's sake; you want to make sure that neither the guard or jailor wake and lock you in, since you left the key on the outside.

"I'm still not sure about this." Joan tells you as she brandishes her sword. "There's so many of them. Can we really escape?" You look at her and say.

"Stand by me. Let us step out and meet them. For death or glory."

"For God and for France." She responds. You draw your sword and hold it to hers, both crossing in the air.

"The guard will be awake soon," You tell her, "I would suggest giving him a surprise."

You have the following choices:

1. Joan Agrees

*Noteb*
2. Joan Disagrees

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
