Once she calmed down a bit, it occurred to Stacy that she had made a mistake.
I'm going to have to live with Amanda for a week, she thought. I should try and make nice with her.
She went back downstairs, where Amanda was sitting watching TV. She was sipping from a glass filled with a brown liquid. On the coffee table in front of her, was a two-liter plastic bottle labeled "MOXIE". She'd heard of it - one of her classmates was originally from and swore by the stuff, but Stacy had thought it was nasty.
"Say, Amanda", she said, "I'm sorry about being so snotty before, I didn't mean to be so rude to you."
"That's quite alright, Stacy", said Amanda. "There's no need for us to be enemies, and I won't 'cramp your style' any more than you have to. If you want to call some of your friends over, I won't object. Just no boys, please. I know you're a big girl, but even 'big girls' make mistakes. Believe me, that's the voice of experience speaking. Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I should go get dinner ready. "
With that, she turned off the TV, and walked out into the kitchen. Stacy watched her go, and then looked down at the bottle on the table. she suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to take a swig from it. She'd always hated the stuff, but now there was nothing she wanted more than to have a mouthful of the stuff. Checking to make sure that Amanda wasn't in sight, she picked the bottle up and took a swig of it, then hastily put the bottle down. Ugh! It was as nasty as she remembered it being. Why had she wanted it so badly?
She went to the phone and called three of her friends, inviting them over. Then she headed back up to her room. In the kitchen, Amanda smiled. She knew full well that Stacy had taken a drink of her soda. She'd have been disappointed if she hadn't, since she had placed a spell on the bottle. so that anyone who saw it would feel compelled to drink from it. Stacy, of course, had not noticed that she'd never actually seen Amanda drink from the bottle.
The apology was a nice try, Stacy, thought Amanda, but you're not getting off so easily.
As Stacy went up the stairs to her room, her fee began to feel really uncomfortable and sore, to the point where she could barely walk. When she got to her room and pulled off her shoes. she noticed that her feet under her socks looked oddly distorted. When she pulled off her socks, she gasped in shock - her feet looked like, like, hands. sort of. but hands with wrinkly brownish skin, and think brown hair on them.
What's happening to me? They almost look like a chimp's feet! She remembered what Amanda had said. Could she have had something to do with this? What had she done to her?
Downstairs, the doorbell rang. Amanda answered it. It was...
