The Demolition ceremony had a huge crowd of mostly reporters and her new employees, Anna was among those employees. The stands were risen up to Vera's stomach level since the tallest person outside her executives was only two inches (The workers averaged half an inch.)
Vera gave an inspiring speach about how her company will work hard to stimulate the economy to turn around the cycle of the poor and the working needing to shrink. Her speach ended to thunderous applause and the cameras were turned off mean Vera could now do her favorite part, destroying the old town.
The cost effective way would be to take down the town piece by piece to sell but Vera allways crushed the town for her own enjoyment. It was always her greatest pleasure since she knew the truth. The town represents the little workers last taste of freedom. From here they would be moved to her towns, eating food from her farms, and for the few who could afford it buying her cars.
That was the cycle every few years minimum wage will lower and she will get to do it again. And because of a ridiculous speach the towns always accept her authority and will hold onto hope as she literally crush their dreams under her heels.
