A happy harpy

"Sarah, wake up! You're never going to get your chores done if you keep sleeping like this!" Elizabeth yelled

Sarah slowly sat up in her bed, and let out a yawn.

"*yawn* Okay mom, hold on..."

Sarah was still half asleep at this point. She slowly rolled out of her bed and landed face first onto the floor. The loud thud woke up her friend Stella, who was the only one in the house to sleep in longer than Sarah herself.

"*yawn* Good morning Sarah... Still having trouble waking up on time?"

Sarah got up and rubbed her head.

"Hehehe... You're really one to talk, Stella... You sleep even longer than me! How come mom doesn't ever get on your back over your chores in the mornings?"

"Probably because my chore is cleaning the dishes after everyone eats dinner, there's no way I could sleep in past dinner..."

"Yeah, well... I think you get off too easy some times..."

Stella got up and grabbed Sarah by the wings.

"Oh please, Sarah... Your chores can all be solved with these! Seriously, how hard is it to dust the high shelves and stuff when you can fly! And you even have your own feather dusters built into your arms!"

"Yeah, yeah... Can I have my wings back now?"

Stella let go of Sarah's wings, and the two broke into laughter.

"Okay Stella, I've got stuff to do, so I'll be going now..."

"*yawn* Alright Sarah, I'm gonna catch a bit more sleep before I get my day started..."

Stella then crawled back into her bed and plopped her head onto the pillow.

"Stella, I don't know how you can possibly sleep so much in broad daylight!"

"Who knows... Maybe I'm secretly part owl or something..."

"Hey! I'm the only one who's part bird around here... You wish you had wings this awesome..."

"Okay Sarah, sheesh... You sure are sensitive about bird jokes..."

"Well what can you expect? I am a harpy... Now if you'll excuse me, this harpy is gonna fly the coop!"

"Why is it okay for you to do it then?"

"Because I just can... Now have a good sleep, Stella..."

"*yawn* Okay Sarah... See you later..."

"See ya..."

Sarah then left the bedroom to get started with her chores. As she reached the bottom of the stairs, a ball flew through an open window and hit her square in the head! She picked it up and rubbed her head. Her friend Jake then came running into the room to retrieve the ball.

"Sorry Sarah! That was totally my bad... Are you okay?"

"Yeah... I'm fine Jake... But couldn't you be a bit more careful?"

Sarah then tossed the ball to Jake, who quickly caught it.

"I know, I know... We'll try to control the ball better next time... Hey, do you want to join in on the game? We still have one open position left!"

How will Sarah respond? She has chores to do!
