I wake up on my own hearing nothing

Todd slowly got to his feet, stretching and taking in the world around him. It took him all of two seconds to remember his predicament and begin attempting some plan to get himself to safety.

But a growl from his stomach reminded Todd it was, if not still morning, afternoon and he hadn't had anything since dinner the night before. With his mind made up, Todd began his trek to the kitchen, thoughts of finding help temporarily postponed.

Todd was just passing the staircase when he noticed his mother bringing his crying baby sister down the stairs. With an ear stabbing scream, especially for somebody of your size, a large object smashed down to the ground, virtually right on top of him. It was difficult to make out from this close up, but the stickiness and smell were unmistakable, this was Todd's baby sister's soother.

Leaning down, while trying to calm the upset bundle in her arms, Todd's mother picks up the soother.
