Chapter #5

Escape through the vent.

    by: greeny55 Author IconMail Icon
You run to the vent and lower yourself through the metal frame on top. Easy enough for you tiny body to fit through the holes on the grate. You hear your mother shout as you run down the shaft, "Todd, I will be back in here in a hour, I want you to be by the base of your nightstand."

You continue to run down the corridor. You take a minute to think about your situation. Your mother and aunt obviously shrank you somehow. This is something out of Science Fiction, not reality, but it happened. You never got along well with yoru family, but doing something like this, was way overkill for them. You do begin to realize that they were correct though. You would not survive like this without help from someone else. If you managed to not get eaten by a giant spider or something, you would eventually starve. No way to get food or water at your size.

You continue down the dark corridor and eventually see a light through one of the turns. You walk over to it and another air vent grate gives you open access to a room below you. You peer over the edge of the vent and realize it is the vent on the ceiling of your older sister Annies room on the lower level of the house. You look down and see you are right over the bed and Annie is lying on it. Still in bed, but not using blankets, she was lying there in shorts and tank top, her normal sleeping clothes.

You wonder if you can trust her, or if she was in on it. But while you were there thinking, you hear a large VROOM from behind you. Oh Crap, you think, the thermostat just kicked in and was about to blow ward air through the vent. At this size it would be like hurricane force winds to you. While you are thinking what to do, time runs out and a giant gust of wind comes through the vent and sends you flying accross the grate. You grab the edge of one of the holes, but the strong wind is blowing way too hard. Will you be able to hold on, or fall into Annie's room?
