While pondering on his choice of restaurant, Renji received a call on his shinigami cell. It seems there were orders for him to return immediately for an urgent meeting. Sighing, Renji made his way over to Urahara's shop so he could ditch his gigai. He had all that money on him, he couldnt just eave it lying around. Once his gigai was stored safely, he opened himself a portal and retreated back, mourning the fact he was still starving.
Once he arrived back safely, he made his way to the head captains office as instructed. "Ah, Abarai you finally made it." There was the head captain and a few other captains from the other squads lined up. Head Captain Shunsui spoke up again. "I know we just stattioned you in Karakura Town and that you have just returned, but we have another mission that you need to do." Renji looked confused. "What could be more important than helping out in Karakura?" Shunsui's face looked grim. "A recent graduate from the academy has gone rouge. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but every officer we sent after them has not returned." Renji just stared. "So what does this have to do with me?" Shunsui grinned. "We cannot afford to send a captai, but you have a bankai and should no match for the graduate." Renji nodded in understanding. "I gotcha, it's like a safety measure." Shunsui nodded. "We would like you to move out as quickly as possible, we want this resolved as soon as possible." Renji nodded and began to accept the relevant information from Shunsui's lieutenant. Once he was fully briefed he began to move out.
It seemed the graduate had fled to the areas around Rukongai, so he followed the the direction he was told. While he was on the trail he noticed something. Stopping, he examined his find. It seemed to be the tattered remains of shinigami robes. Renji hoped that didnt mean what he thought it did. He had to find this graduate. He eventually comes too...
