This choice: ...He was forced to lie back in defeat • Go Back...Chapter #7Out and Alone by: Unknown ...He was forced to lie back in defeat, no, his stomach - bloated with nearly twice what it should have been able to hold - was simply to big and painfully tight for him to get up, which meant staying here, immobile, until it digested. This thought wasn't particularly worrying at first, for few things would dare to try to attack him, even if he were in such a state, and those few that would didn't usually come to the desert border. Soon though, another threat made itself known, and this one couldn't be fought off with teeth and claws. As he lay there in the blazing sun, the king felt himself getting hotter and hotter. It wasn't bad at first, merely feeling warm, but soon became uncomfortable, persuading him to try again to get up. Unfortunately, this attempt was even less successful, thanks to the sun having made him feel weak and dizzy, and so he could do little but lay back and take it, awaiting his ultimate fate...

It was well after dark when Simba came to, having finally cooled down. His time in the sun had left its mark though, for his mouth was painfully dry from panting, and he was still feeling quite weak. Fortunately, as he looked down he noted his stomach looked very much smaller, perhaps small enough to allow him to get up. He managed to do so, though after a few false starts, as his ordeal had left him weak and slightly dizzy, and immediately cast around for a water-hole, for right now a drink was his most pressing need, even more so that trying to find out why, and even how he'd managed to clean an impala carcass. Fortunately he knew of one nearby, not big, but enough for his needs.
Of course, wanting to get a drink and actually getting one proved to be quite different, as Simba soon found out that weak legs and a dizzy sense of balance made for a slow journey thanks to having to pick himself up repeatedly after various stumbles. Finally though, he was able to reach the waterhole, but instead of simply trying to drink from it, actually walked into it, letting his weak frame sink into the cool water even as he gulped the liquid down his parched throat.
As with his hunger with the impala, so Simba's thirst with the waterhole seemed to know no bonds as he gulped greedily, not content to simply drink his fill, he simply swallowed mouthful after mouthful until his stomach reached its natural limit, and then beyond. By the time he finished drinking, the king's stomach was almost as bloated as, or perhaps even more so than it had been with the impala, which with his weakened legs, made leaving the waterhole impossible, and so he lay there the night, weak body and bloated stomach cradled gently in a liquid embrace.
