Chapter #4

other

    by: Unknown
“He’s coming around doctor,” said a voice, and a small light enter into my darken world as I slowly opened my eyes, and I blinked in confusion has I found myself laying in a bed with a man shining a light at me, I notice that he was wearing a white lab coat, and wore small spectacles on his careworn face. “Where am I?” I asked looking around, I was in a hospital room, and it appeared to be early morning judging by the pale light that was filtering in through the window. I tried to get up, but a hand held me down again, and I turned my head to see a woman standing there with her hand on my shoulder, she was dressed in standard uniform of a nurse even the funny little white paper hat. “It’s alright, you just made a dimensional jump, your body needs a little more rest,” the doctor said as he wrote something down on a chart he was carrying, “A dimensional what?” I asked, wondering if this wasn’t a poor attempt at humor.

“A dimensional jump, the Immigration Board brought you here this morning,” the man said, all I could do was stare in disbelief, “they brought your partner as well, but she will need to stay here for another day, the jump was harder on her then it was on you,” the doctor said and then turned to the nurse, “let’s allow him to rest, we’ll check up on him later,” he said and the nurse nodded as they both left the room. “Dimensional jump? Immigration Board? Partner?” these words ran through my mind as I tried to make sense of them but failed as I listened to make sure they were gone, before making my move.

I slowly got up finding that I was dressed in my normal nightclothes of a T-shirt and sweat pants, and I make for the door slowly and opened it. I peek out to see that it lead into a hallway, I had to shut the door quickly as I saw another doctor turn the corner that was a little ways down the hall, and I waited till his footstep faded before opening the door again and stepping out. I slowly made my way down the seemly silent corridor just waiting for someone to raise an alarm of some sort, my worries cause me not to notice till it was to late a door opening and someone stepping out, and bumped into me. “Terribly sorry,” the young nurse I bumped said as I spun around, I stared as she straighten her dress before looking at me, I wonder if she was going to let out a cry, but instead she gave me a small smile and turned and slowly made her way down the hallway in the direction I had just come from.

I blinked in confusion as I continued; this place felt strange, something about it wasn’t quite right all I knew was I needed to escape, and I saw my way out, a stair way leading down that bore a sign over it reading, “emergency exit,” well this did seem like a emergency, so quickly I made my way down the stairs and push opened the door.

I had assumed that the door would lead me outside the building; instead my jaw fell to the floor as I saw were I was. It was a giant room, everything was enormous, and if I wasn’t mistake this room looks like a giant waiting room, with a long row of chairs that you could drive a semi-truck under at it wouldn’t even touch the bottom of the chair, “Where the heck am I?” I cried as I looked around the room. I could also see a desk were a two-story tall television stand, throughout the room I could see giant piles of old magazines, suddenly there came a thumping sound, and I felt the ground give a little shake, and I turned around toward the giant doorway as something came in.

My eyes threaten to pop out of my head as I saw the creature, it was a giant humanoid rabbit dressed in a, (and I couldn’t believe) nurse’s uniform. The rabbit had golden fur, and I could see a look of exhaustion on her (I figured it was female) face as she made her way across the room toward me, “Shoot,” I thought as I was forced to run for cover as the rabbit’s large feet nearly crushed me as she walked over to one of the chairs and sat down, “I’m going to drop dead in a minute,” I heard her groan as she sat back in her seat. I hide behind one of the chair’s legs that was across the way from this giant creature as I look between the giant door, and the one that almost looks like a mouse hole in comparison to the room, the one that lead back to the other hospital. I knew I couldn’t stay here, but I wondered were I should go, the big door probably lead to a giant version of a hospital, and probably filled with more of those giant creatures, and toward the little door lead back to those strange people, that is also when a strange idea creep across my mind, maybe I could get the rabbit to help me, although I have no idea what she would do to me if she caught me.

Well I got to move somewhere, so which one?
