Looking up at the super big animal kids, you see all of them looking at you like you are their friend. A few of them are even waving hello. You smile back to them, because you like being with friends!
"Now, class, let us all introduce ourselves to Mikey," says Miss Talons. "I would like you to pass Mikey around the circle, and tell him your name and species. Remember, though, that Mikey is a human, so you all have to be very gentle and careful when handling him." You do not know what a 'species' is, but you are probably going to find out soon, so you do not ask your teacher any questions. You feel the world move as Miss Talon's hand maneuvers to her right. Soon, you see another hand above you, except instead of having yellow scales, this one is covered in white fur and has big black mounds on the palm and fingertips. Very carefully, you are pressed against two of these mounds and lifted off of your teacher's hand. You feel yourself flipped sideways, and find yourself lying on a giant thumb, looking at a cute, fuzzy face of a giant boy animal.
"Hello, Mikey, my name is Boris, and I'm a polar bear!" You wave hello to Boris, and he wiggles a finger back at you. Suddenly, everything goes black again as Boris places his pointer finger back on your body. As you move to the right again, you realize that "species" must be a word for "kind of animal".
Next, you are placed on another black surface, but this one feels slippery and rubbery. Looking up past shiny, smooth mountain-fingers, you can see a pudgy face of a fishy girl.
"Hi, I'm Ambergry, an orca," she says shyly. You do not know what an orca is, but her toothy smile reminds you of a dolphin, so you think that an orca is kind of like a dolphin. Next, you can see a big orange blob falling down onto you, and you want to tell the teacher that this animal kid is not being gentle like she said. However, the orange blob is very soft and squishy, so you aren't hurt one bit. The blob is very sticky, too, so when the blob lifts up, you are stuck in place and do not fall down. Replacing Ambergry's hand is now is a funny looking boy, with a very green face and giant red eyes that look too big even for him.
"Ooh, ooh, I am Thadius, and my species is a, is a, is a Tree Frog!" You can tell that Thadius is what your mommy would call "Hyper" by the amount of energy he has. The next student has a hand that looks kind of like your teachers, but it is brown, not yellow. One of the really big claws gently scrapes you off of Thadius's sticky finger, and then wipes you onto a palm. You look up and jump back at the scary fangs on the big animal's face, but when you heard her soft, soothing voice, you forgot all about your fear.
"Hi, little Mikey, I'm Nagatha, a rattlesnake." You then hear a loud rattling noise come from her wiggling tail, and see that Nagatha is showing off her rattle. You can see that her tail goes right up to belly, without any legs. You think that its funny and cool that giant snake people get to have arms but no legs, and tell her so. She lets out a funny giggle and pats your head with one of her claws before she hands you over to the next animal kid.
You find the next kid to be very funny looking. The hand you are placed in has very big claws, even bigger than Miss Talons' talons, but on a hand that is too small for them. You can see his face covered in greasy black fur, most of which is behind giant glasses, along with tiny looking beady eyes. But the funniest part of his face is the nose, which looks like it is covered in little fingers! You try hard not to laugh at the giant animal boy as you look at his nervous face.
"Um, hi Mikey, I'm Spangle," says the funny kid in a nasally voice. "I'm a star-nosed mole." You could hear several other students snicker a bit, but you do not, because you don't want to hurt his feelings.
You look back at the circle and noticed that Miss Talons is sitting across from Spangle, which means that you have met half of your new students. So far, you like all of the students you have met so far, and are actually excited to meet the rest. You wait anxiously as Spangle pinches you gently in his big claws.
