It didn't take long to find her own picture, despite the three dozen or so doors down the corridor. Most of the doors were slightly ajar, meaning she had gotten there before the rush. Good, she thought, I'll have time to change rooms if I don't like the looks of my roommates.
Her picture showed up on the third door from the end of the hall, just before the big window that seemed to show a great view of... the window of the building next door. It looked to be only about 8 feet from the one to the next, but this didn't upset the girl at all. She had lived in the city all her life, and was used to buildings butting up against each other.
What surprised and slightly annoyed her was that the red-head she had passed on the stairs, wearing the same green sweater even, was staring up at her from one of the pictures on the door next to hers. Great, I get stuck with Perky Wondertatas! she thought, reaching out to pull the thumbtack from her picture. At least she could change rooms quickly, especially since the hallway was otherwise deserted.
Unfortunately for her, when she pulled on the thumbtack, her door creaked, and all of a sudden it burst open and she found herself being attacked by a large green pillow with arms. There was a head, somewhere way up high, but for now all the girl could see was big and green and eye-level. It was the redhead again! And she was hugging her!
Hugging her! Smothering her in what she now knew for a fact was unbound cleavage! Sputtering for air through the cashmere pullover, she pushed back on the only thing she could get ahold of at the time- the other's breasts. Now at arm's length, but fondling another woman, the girl looked absolutely disgusted.
The redhead, however, was unfazed. "Hey, you must be Jennifer Rocca. Pleased to meet'cha! I'm Genevive Ramsey. We're both 'Jens'! Well, I'm a 'Gen', technically, with a 'G', but..."
"Will you back off, please?" Jennifer growled, "I'm... touching... your..."
Gen, for all it was worth, seemed to Jen to be about as bright as one of the crossbeams overhead. And like a piece of wood, it took a while to sink in. After what seemed like forever, she stopped leaning against Jen's hands, which in turn dropped to her sides.
Jen surreptitiously wiped her hands off on her pants, as if the whole ordeal was dirty. Gen, thankfully, was oblivious. "Alright. Start over. How do you know my name?"
"Well, silly, it’s written on the back of your picture, of course!" came Gen's reply, pulling the picture down and handing it to Jen. Sure enough, there was her name, her full address, her date of birth, astrological sign, and worst of all, a copy of the number hanging above the door.
Damn! I guess I won't be changing rooms then... she thought. Then she looked up at Gen, who, as has been mentioned, Jen was considerably shorter than. "How did you get up here so fast? Didn't I see you just now, coming down the stairs?"
"Hmm? Oh, that must have been Ginger. She's my sister. Her room's over there." Genevive replied, pointing to the door closest to the window on the opposite side of the hall. Sure enough, an identical picture was on that door. Jennifer pushed past Genevive to inspect the room.
It was tiny. It a closet directly behind the door that surely wouldn't fit all of her clothes, much less her roommates. A single desk lined the back wall, devoid of a chair even; and the left wall was dominated by a set of dormitory bunkbeds. Which, unfortunately, seemed to contain only one mattress. In fact, the entire bottom of the upper bunk seemed to be missing!
"Um, two roommates. One bed. How's that supposed to work?" Jen asked, spinning around to face her loathsome roomie.
