"Sorry", you say with just a hint of hesitation, "I'm waiting for your brother". She doesn't say anything but raises her eyebrows in surprise and shrugs as she continues down the hallway. After several tense minutes Rick finally shows up, dressed and ready for school, and you breath a sigh of relief.
"So what was so urgent that it couldn't wait until after school?", he asks quickly.
"Well...", you can hear the impatience in his voice and decide to come right out and tell him, " I have the power to switch bodies with people by wearing their clothes and...", you trail off as his incredulous look slowly transforms into a knowing smirk.
"I don't know what your angle is this time", he laughs, "but there's no way I'm going to fall for another one of your pranks. Nice try though", he finishes as he begins to reach for his blazer. "I really need to get going though so..."
"WAIT!", you cry, the loudness of your voice surprising even yourself, "I can prove it!", and with this you reach out and grab the blazer and begin pulling it on.
"HEY! Give that back", he demands, the humor completely gone from his voice. He is clearly going to say more but then you are struck by a sickening nausea, and you can tell by his reaction that he can feel it as well. After a couple of seconds the wave passes, but when you look at where Rick was standing you start when you see somebody who you don't recognize. You squint in surprise at the newcomer but then recognize the familiar features and curve of the face, and realise that it is your own, even though you have never seen your mouth open quite so wide.
"It worked", you realise with a flash. You look down and see hands that don't belong to you, and that you are wearing Rick's school uniform, complete with the blazer, and you look up to see that he is wearing your clothes as well.
"What the hell is going on", he asks softly, touching his fingers to his throat as if to beg supplication for using the foreign body part.
"Well clearly my power worked", you laugh, flashing him that same satisfied smirk that you had been on the recieving end of only moments ago.
"Well...can we change back?" he asks, clearly not at all adjusted to the idea of being someone else.
"Of course we can", you say with a much friendlier smile, "but I was kinda hoping we could spend the day as each other so I can get a look at that private school you're always bragging about".
At this his face brightens considerably and with a tight smile he says, "Well as long as it isn't permanent I guess it could be fun to spend the day among the huddled masses at public school".
You laugh and ask him to exchange schedules, and you both agree to meet back at Rick's house after both schools get out. Soon you see him driving away in your car to your school from the window, and a quick look at the clock tells you that Rick's classes were starting soon, and that you needed to go. With a quick goodbye to his parents you climb into his car and drive to his school, pulling at your tie as you wonder what you really just got yourself into.
