"We've got to find out who discovered the body. Get on it, Riley. Question them on that, and try to find out who she is. Are the crime scene people here yet? We need to get her body out of this crowd as soon as possible." Riley obediently wandered off to question the people.
The detective looked down at his hands covered in blood from the boy. Hailing a likely looking man, he called out. "Excuse me, is there somewhere I can wash my hands?" The man nodded solemnly in the direction of a pump in the shadow of a house. "Thank you!"
After cleaning up, the detective checked with Riley. "Any results so far?"
"None, sir."
"Very well, continue. I suppose I shall help out. Madam, could you please give me your name, and address?"
The young woman looked worn and yet rather undisturbed in respects to the murder. Her brown hair was tucked modestly under a cloth cap and her drab dress was covered with a white apron. "My name is Catherine. I live in that house over there." She pointed at a nearby house.
"I see. And did you know the young lady who is dead?"
