This choice: Robin calls for Kid Flash on his communicator • Go Back...
Chapter #5
That was help?
by: Unknown
Robin sighed and flipped open his communicator. It was the only responsible thing to do. "Kid Flash! Come in. Kid Flash! This is Robin! Please answer!"
Not a second later, Kid Flash's handsome face, framed by his bright red hair was showing on the screen. He was out of uniform. It looked, from the background like he was in some kind of restaurant. He glanced quickly to each side then spoke in a near whisper.
"What is it?"
Robin was momentarily perplexed. "Um, I, uh, I need your help here at the Tower. I-"
He was about to explain the situation when he heard a voice from off screen.
"What is that? You told me you were going to leave it at home! You promised me!" Then it seemed like he must have put it down because Kid Flash's face moved off screen and the view Robin had was stuck on the ceiling of that same restaurant. Offscreen, Robin could hear Kid Flash trying to calm Jinx down.
"Sorry, baby. It's force of habit. I didn't even mean to take it."
"Yeah, right. You're addicted to the whole deal. You'll never change and make allowances for being with me!"
From that point their voices moved further away and it was a full minute later before a very irritated Kid Flash returned to the screen Robin saw.
"Thanks a lot Robin! My girlfriend just walked out on dinner and judging from how angry she is the lovin' dessert I was hoping for is out of the question. Now, what is it?"
Luckily, Kid Flash couldn't see the nervous look in his eyes behind his mask. Robin repeated his request that Kid Flash speed to the Tower without further explanation. 30 seconds later, the teen speedster zipped into the room and stood beside Robin in his skin tight red and yellow uniform. He still looked irritated.
His look didn't improve much when Robin outlined his plan.
"You . . want to use the fat ray to make yourself a little pudgy to appeal to Starfire?"
Robin nodded.
"Seriously?"
Robin nodded again and Kid Flash shook his head. "Are you crazy? This is the way to be," said Kid Flash patting the 8 visible squares of stomach muscles under his uniform and then the equally toned abs of his friend. "You're in great shape dude. Why would you ruin it?"
"If Starfire wants-wants . . pudgy, I'll be pudgy. It'll just be temporary but it'll show her how serious I am. You understand that, don't you? Don't you make sacrifices to please Jinx?"
Kid Flash sighed. "If you only knew."
"So, how 'bout it?" asked Robin picking up the bazooka sized fat ray gun. "Fatten me up just a bit."
Kid Flash nodded. "I don't get it. But, okay. There's only one problem."
"What?"
"Flash never finished explaining to me how this one works."
"What?!"
"Well, I'm sure we can figure out the other parts."
A disappointed Robin rolled his eyes and the two slender teens started fiddling with the dials and switches on it, both adjusting at the same time and not sufficiently noting what the other was doing.
All of a sudden the thing hummed to life and a couple dials started to glow. Robin turned a nob that he thought was sort of a safety, thinking that he was setting the safety and preventing an accidental use of it.
"No, don't touch that one!" barked the speedster but it was too late as a green light came out the muzzle end of the gun.
