"Yeah, you're right, that does sound like it'd be fun," I agreed, pondering my own flat stomach. "Maybe we can both go on an anti-diet..."
Izzy raised an eyebrow. "Both of us, Conrad? I mean, I get me, but who are you rebelling against?"
"Uh, no one really," I stammered, thinking back to my conversation with Dmitri. "I...well, dieting is easier if you do it with friends, right? I'm sure it's the same way if you're going the other direction." I elected not to lead with Dmitri telling me that getting fat would help me score. I still had my doubts about that, and even then I didn't want to come across as a horn dog. I found her attractive, sure, but that didn't mean I wanted to get it on in the bakery storeroom, so to say.
Izzy had an odd look on her face as she perused the menu. "You'd be willing to get fat to help me get back at my family?"
"Yeah," I said, surprising myself with how readily I answered. "Honestly, it does sound kind of fun, and even if it isn't, I'd still be helping someone out. That's good enough for me."
"...that's really sweet of you," Izzy said, smiling warmly. I returned the smile, feeling equally warm before the waitress cleared her throat.
"Can I take your order?" she said, sounding disinterested.
"Double bacon cheeseburger," I said, feeling a bit more confident with myself then normal.
"And...oh heck, I'll have the same thing," Izzy decided, taking my menu and handing them both back to the waitress, who flounced off without a word.
"So..." I continued, clearing my throat. "I take it by ordering that monster, you're ready to commit to this anti-diet thing?"
"Oh absolutely," Izzy said eagerly before the pin dropped. "Hang on, what do you mean by monster? How big are the double bacon cheeseburgers here?"
I grinned, all too eager to flex my knowledge of where the best places to eat freely and largely were. "You'll see..."
