Lindsay Bergen is your classic picture of a Midwestern beauty with all the corn fed vigor that title implies. Lindsay grew up in the little town or Rustund, in the southeastern part of Missouri. With a population of two thousand, it's the sort of town you expect to see Tom Sawyer tricking his friends into whitewashing his aunt's fence.
Lindsay is a senior in the local high school, where she is the head cheerleader, homecoming queen and Miss Rustund. Everyone says Lindsay has a chance to actually become Miss Missouri. No one had even come clost to that since 1948, when that Miss Rustund was named the second runner up.
But as beautiful as Lindsay is, she's also smart and friendly. She's had the same boyfriend since ninth grade, Lance Cargill. Lance is an all star shortstop who's never got past first base with Lindsay (although he wouldn't mind). Like Lindsay, Lance is pretty nice, and everyone gets along with them.
Lindsay is about to shrink down to five and a half inches in height. When/where does it happen?
Picnic -- Lindsay is on a date with Lance in a field of wildflowers, having a picnic
Backstage -- Lindsay is backstage with four other contestants for Miss Missouri. The five ladies are all by themselves, and all of them are about to get shrunk down to approximately five and a half inches in height
Tutoring -- Lindsay is shrunk down to five and a half inches in height while being tutored in Algebra II by fifteen year old Steven Campbell. Steven has always had a crush on Lindsay, but Lindsay thinks of him as her little brother. Soon she'll be thinking of him as her big brother!
Museum -- Even with students coming in from all around the county, Rustund High School is still a pretty small high school. So it's not unusual that only four seniors (which includes Lindsay) are in the High School's Honor Society, Those four seniors (all of them female) and their sponsor/chaperone (the school's cheerleading coach and history teacher, thirty two year old Nancy Russell) are spending the weekend at a neighboring town with an impressive Natural Science museum. So naturally all four female high school students and their female chaperone are going to be shrunk down to roughly five and a half inches in height.
Bedroom -- It's Monday morning and the first day of summer vacation, so Lindsay has nowhere to be, It's good thing she doesn't, because Lindsay wakes up to discover she's only five and half inches tall!
