The alarm clock buzzes. Groggily, you reach over and click off the alarm, then climb out from under your sheets. You rub your eyes and brush the hair out of your face before catching a glance at yourself in the mirror. Stranding right there, you can see yourself in your white tank top and pink pajama pants, which brings a smile to your face. How long has it been since you became Amber now? Almost a month? And still, the sight of your new reflection makes you remarkably happy.
After changing into the outfit you laid out for yourself the night before and applying some light makeup (it's amazing what some simple mascara and eyeliner can do), you slip down the stairs. "Good morning Amber!" your mother says chipperly, with an emphasis on the last word since she herself is actually Amber. "Morning mom," you say and make a small bowl of cereal for yourself.
Your mom, in your old body, pops in and says she's heading to school a bit early. You suspect she's probably dating one of the girls at school, but since you and Amber always ran in different crowds it's hard for you to know. Your mom has taken to being you quite well though, it seems. Cutting loose and not having to worry about keeping up her looks or parental responsibilities seems to have done wonders for her mood.
Not that your sister minds any. She still doesn't know you and mom swapped before you swapped with her, but you half-suspect she wouldn't care anyway. For the first two weeks, all she could talk about with you was how great it was to be a model. She's not great at being a mother though, and your mom has started doing the cooking to compensate, but Amber is absolutely in love with her new role. You wonder occasionally about how she's handling being married to your father, but it's not something you really think of asking her about.
You pop in to the bathroom before you head out for the day to make sure your hair is good. Man, I look hot!, you think to yourself. And it's true! In just a few weeks, you've managed to totally adapt to being a woman. Amber's makeup is light but tasteful, her hair is perfectly done, her outfit is cute and flattering, and you've even adopted a lot of her old mannerisms. Smiling proudly, you think to yourself about how awesome it would be if this swap became permanent...
