Chapter #4
Hit him, only to see that there were more Germa...
by: Unknown
... rushing to action. The Nazi soldiers went into position to pin us to the ground. That was, when they didn't kill us before we could land at all. Borne dead, me and others wounded. I heard screams whenever the crescendo fo gunshots did not deafen me for an instance.
I crawled forwards, taking the corpse of a fallen comrade as cover, I am not proud to confess it, yet duty demanded more than heroic self-sacrifice from each of us. That crazed Austrian, Hitler, had thrown the world into a nightmarish slaughter-spree and it was time to bring him and his regime to justice.
A bullet hit the pelvis of the corpse behind which I had taken cover. The Germans had a sniper in position.
"Sniper!" I gave the warning shout, even though that moment I could neither see nor feel any living comrade in the vicinity. It happens, that is known to soldiers. One is so busy with surviving, that nothing but that enters the mind. I positioned my machine gun upon the fallen comrades' corpse and I swear to god, thereby I made his death save British lives.
I did not hold back, my arms drew a circle while my gun did, what it was designed for. I knew I could not hit the sniper straight between the eyes, yet I hoped, that a surprising clip full of bullets would wound some of the Germans.
The gun gave the final "CLICK" when the last bullet was send out.
