"Oh my God!" Lucy screamed out just as her mother ran up the stairs in concern.
Susan came through the door to check on Lucy. When she saw her crying in her prom dress she put her hand on her shoulder and related a story to her daughter.
"Lucy..." Susan said sympathetically placing a hand on her dress. “When I was around your age and I had just met your father in high school I was a little overweight myself. I remember carrying myself around everyday struggling to fit in. But one day I found myself in the exact same position you are in today. I had gotten my prom dress and just like you I had already grown out of it.” She paused. “And that day my mother told me something I will never forget. She said ‘Susan, pick up your head. Remember this; the ladder of success is missing a few rungs. Nothing is easy, but I know you’ll get through it.”
Lucy turned her tearing head to her mother. “So you think I should keep the weight?”
Susan smiled. “Defiantly not, try and loose a bit.” And with she got up, patted Lucy on the head and walked out quietly.
