She get stung by an bug

Peri had fallen asleep lying on her back, out of the sand came a scropian like creature roughly the size of a crab, it came to Peri's foot and stung it, she woke with a jump, wondering what the creature was she reached forward, the creature then stang her wrist, she felt faint a collasped, the creature then ran into the sea.

Meanwhile the Doctor had reached the visitors center, he pressed the bell which rang out, then a computer sceen appeared, "Hello sir, welcome, we are sorry but the beach has been quarintened until fruther notice"

"Quarintened?" the Doctor exclaimed "Why?"

"An swam of Scropilexies have taken over the beach, we advise no-one to set foot on the sands..."

"Why wasn't there any warning signs?"

"The swan only arrived early in the mornning and the quarintene was only issued in the past 15 minutes, law infrocement and medical staff have not arrived to quardend off the area..."

"These "Scopilexies" can I please get information of them?". A block of informatin appeared on the sceen and the computer read out: "Scopilexies are a race of Insect-like creature, once a dominent spieces of the now dead planet Savonja..."

"In the same star system as Metebelis III in the Acteon Galaxy"

"Correct... The Scopilexies venom has the ablity to mutate DNA if the person (of any Humanoid shape) is stung where a blood strem of easily acseible"

"Mutates DNA?... Peri!!" And the Doctor out.

When he reaches Peri what has happened
