Your mom pulls the tarp off the machine and studies it. Your mom is quite unusual in that she is a huge science fiction buff. In fact she love sci-fi books and movies almost as much as you do. After studying the machine for awhile she figures out that it is designed to allow people to switch bodies.
She wonders how it got here and she figures that you had something to do with it. She wants to try it out to see if it actually works. She sees your dad, Larry, pulling up in the driveway and figures that he would be a prime candidate.
Larry, your dad, is a highly successful attorney. While he does love his family, he spends way too much time at work. Some nights he doesn't get home until about nine in the evening. He works Saturdays and way too often even on Sundays. You get along with him well enough, but you barely see him.
Your mom, Susan, decides that maybe she can help him see that spending more time with his family is more important than working himself to death, so she hatches a plan to switch bodies with him, which in effect will force him to spend more time with his kids.
She decides to camoflauge the machine so that it looks more like two chairs than a body switching machine. She eventually succeeds, and then asks your dad to join her in the shed.
She sits in one chair and asks your dad to join her, have a seat, and tell her about his day.
Your dad is so busy that he never goes out in the shed, so he doesn't notice anything odd about there being two chairs out there.
He sits in the other chair, and starts telling your mom about a client who he is positive is innocent even though all of the evidence in the case suggests otherwise.
Your mom pushes the big red button and a big flash of blue light illuminates the shed. Your dad starts to continue his story, but stops after a couple of words when he hears that his voice now sounds like his wife's. He looks down and notices that he is wearing your mom's clothing and is surprised to see that they fit him. He looks over at your mom, but sees himself.
He asks what happened. Meanwhile, during the initial confusion, your mom spotted a couple of wires on the control panel that looked to be easy to connect and disconnect and she disconnected them with the hopes that the machine would not work again (until she reconnected them). Your mom trying to act surprised and shocked says "I think we just switched bodies! Why don't we try to switch back?"
Your dad says good, and sits back in the pod he was just sitting in. Your mom says "I must have accidentally pushed the big red button. Why don't you push it and see if it switches us back".
Your dad, still in shock over being in your mom's body pushes it and:
