Matt's line snapped and he collapsed back on the dock. Cursing his luck he looked out at the lake to see something that surprised him. The fish didn't swim away, instead it was simply there. Matt could wear it was watching him. Curious, Matt put another worm on the hook and tossed it out to the fish. The fish ate it, but this time, he ate it right off the hook and returned to his former position. Amused, Matt laughed and reeled the pole in one more time and placed another worm on the hook. Tossing it back out to the trout, the fish ate it and then returned to his former position.
"Thank you." the fish said.
Matt staggered back, at once shocked and horrified that the fish had spoken to him. He hid behind the pier and when he looked back, he saw that the fish was still there, still watching, still waiting...
"Uh..."
"I said thank you mortal."
"Uh, you're welcome."
"Better. Nice to know some of you still have manners."
"You're a fish..." Matt said.
"I am... And you are human."
"Yes... Yes I am."
"Good." The fish said. "Thank you for the food. Do you enjoy feeding people?"
"Uh... what?"
"Feeding people. You have fed me rather well... and you seem to enjoy eating yourself."
Matt covered up his slightly flabby stomach from the fish and blushed a little bit. "Well..."
"I can make you bigger. Or I can give you a gift to increase the size of others... Or perhaps both. We have many options available to us... Your friend returns... Let us talk later. Come back here tonight. I shall wait for you friend."
"Uh... yeah. See you..." Matt said, waving a quick good bye to the fish.
"Here you go." Russ said placing a large platter of sandwiches between them. Matt took one and took a bite.
"Peanut butter."
