Warily, you closed your eyes, trying to relax. You'd a tough day at school, unsurprising considering that the new school year had began several days earlier. Already, you was wishing for some escape, but a quiet house and time away from your rather girly sisters was the closest thing to it that you could hope for.
Least that what it would normally be like. Your eldest sister, Hayley had disappeared about a year ago, sent to some private school which name you didn't even know, and you hadn't heard anything from her since. That was strange, as you were close, Mainly because she definitely was the tomboy of the family. It was the opposite, least in hobbies, compared of your other two sisters. Your youngest sister, Hannah was the stereotypical girly, princess obsessed brat. At seven, she was either doing ballet, or at a friend's house doing dress up or something like that. As for Melanie, she was your twin sister. Ditzy, blond, and vain, she was at least tolerable towards you. It was strange that she wasn't around; you expected that she would be least in her room, pouting about something but you quickly realized she would be either giving moral support to one of your friends (and crush) Megan Thompson, whom just joined the school's cheerleading squad, or pining over your best friend, Harry Rich.
Smiling slightly, you headed to the fridge and got yourself a snack. Even mom wasn't around, which was unusual. Normally, she was upstairs in her study, but today, there was no sign of her. As you placed your sandwich on a side table, you felt something hard by the side of your chair. Surprised, you leaned over to see what it was. Much to your surprise, it was an old-looking leather bound book. Opening it, you saw on the first page the words Magic Book
"Magic book, huh?" you muttered, wondering what it was doing in your home. Normally, you would had tossed it aside, but there was something compelling about the book. Almost like it called out to you, wanting you to read more of it.
