Shirley Jackson was an accomplished writer. Her writing career spanned over two decades, during which she composed six novels, two memoirs, and more than 200 short stories.
I especially like "The Lottery". It's a classic. And for good reason. As mentioned, the 'we've always done it this way' argument is throughout. But why did it start? Why did it continue? Psychological and horrific but so well-written.
