"Origins of an Operation" brings things to a small break point for at least a few days. There's actually a point beyond this that I want to get to but for now I'm going to leave it here. I played everything mostly by ear and pretty much just went into this with no real plan beyond, originally, the idea of Seth being involved. But Brittany and Addison came about because I realized that Will needed something to do to set up the twist that brings in Seth. Originally I'd intended for Addison to have a bigger role but Brittany just grabbed me more. But then I've also had a bit of trouble thinking of ways for her to be involved beyond her general enthusiasm (a mix of childishness and self-assurance) and I realized that something involving Jenny would ultimately bring in Yumi. Yumi's been impersonated and she's been swapped but I don't think she's ever really gotten involved with mask stuff as a participant and once she came in, a very obvious reason as to why she would (as shown in this chapter) presented itself. And that, in turn, set up what I realized made sense as the actual central thrust of this story: the cheerleaders (at least some of them) involved in a conspiracy against Chelsea. How will that play out? Have Keith and Seth and the others actually washed their hands of everything? Stay tuned, I guess. |
