When writing about witches, one must use their tools!
So I've been looking into the idea of using Tarot as a tool for writing for a long time now. It's basically, even if you don't believe in its divination abilities, a great way to focus the mind on specific symbols and teasing out ideas. I know nothing makes it more impossible for me to be creative than too wide a field of choices--it's why I absolutely could never be a Panster of any skill. So since I'm writing a novel all about witches and one of the witches in question specializes in divination, I decided this would be a perfect novel to try this technique with.

Y'all, it's been so good! Like, it mapped out the plot I had in mind perfectly the first time I tried it, and it even helped me focus in on how to characterize the LI. And helped me figure out the MC's motivation and how to thread the plot specifically through her eyes. I admit, being Pagan myself makes me more likely to believe in the cards' power, but even if you don't... I really recommend this technique! It's been super amazing for mental focus and I credit the use of the cards with teasing out some details that have been eluding me since the first time I tried writing this novel a few years ago.

So yeah. Tarot = good writing tool.
