"Music and the Savage Beast" , "Some Talk Over Tacos" and "Taken in Trade" together form a trilogy meant to show the two sides of David Kirkham's personality: the thug and the businessman. Okay, so the "businessman" is more of a buccaneer, so maybe there's not two sides to his personality, just one—the pirate. At any rate, it's meant to give a close-up view of a remorseless and conscienceless reptile.
The third chapter is also supposed to set up a slight conflict by complicating one of the ideas that's been put forward: that Gary Chen should also be one of the replacements. Yes, that would give Will control of the drug trade, but this chapter is supposed to suggest that Chen is a suboptimal drug lord, and that the trade would be much better off in Kirkham's hands, if the goal is to squeeze more money out of it.
And with that done, the way is now open for the next replacement to be made. There's a poll up—[poll completed and deleted]—if you want to register how you'd do it.
