To be honest I'm always hesitant when it comes to writing myself because while I feel like I'm good at writing nice moments and I'd like to think my actual characters are good bigger plots are just outside of my wheelhouse. The current story I'm doing -- with Will venturing back into St. Xavier's to help out Vee -- is a good example. I have the general outline of how it will go but once it comes down to actually putting pen to paper (so to speak), well it's just not there because when it comes to larger plots I start getting into my own head with all the details which turns into doubt and frustration and eventually I just put everything aside.
I have something I've been working on with a friend (non-BoM) and it's the same way and this isn't even as much of an ambitious plot all that much.
