A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
I took a page out of Joy's book and peeked at your Prep work, since you've posted and shared it. Your plot is starting to really take shape. In order to take the time needed to develop the relationship between Cullen and Danielle, they're going to need to spend time together and have things in common. What are some of those things? Obviously work will be the biggest one, so you'll have some definitions related to work. Cullen is a business owner. Does he belong to any professional organizations? Does he get surprise visits from city inspectors, health inspectors, journalists/critics? Who are his vendors? Does the bar get deliveries from suppliers? What are the terms/lingo/equipment used in the bar industry, which Danielle will have to learn? Is there a dress code for employees? Since he has a talent for singing, does the bar have a karaoke night? Etc. Etc. In your definitions list, you might include: Karaoke night: Fridays at 9pm at the Celtic Knot Sam's Trucking: Vendor who delivers spirits every Friday and Monday morning Employee Dress Code: Black pants and shirt with an emerald green server's apron The Pub Pundit: Respected periodical focusing on restaurant critiques Etc. Etc. The point of the definitions list is to start a list of things you want to keep track of for consistency. You don't have to dig through your notes to remember if you settled on Fridays or Wednesdays for karaoke night. Cheers, Michelle |
