I run a bi-monthly contest on third person limited POV here:

Feel free to use any ideas from there that are helpful. I'd be willing to help judge, too.

I suppose, given that I'm having a hard time getting inspired, that a prompt might be helpful. How's this:

Ruby goes through the wrong door at the shopping mall and finds [fill in the blank. Space aliens. Zombies or vampires (boring). Or maybe she's stepped into another century, a parallel universe, another planet, or faerie land....] The possibilities are endless. Let the authors fill in what she finds, but maybe make some of these suggestions. Of course, what she finds must have a SciFi theme.
