THE LAST EMERALD DRAGON (RETURN) CHAPTER I The realm of Islesbury was quiet today. Along the cliff face of the western shore the sun was just at the horizon. The orange and red clouds looked as sugar filled cake floating in the blue, black sky. The sea water was at low tide, with low waves lapping upon a white sandy beach. A long figure with long dark hair and very tan skin is walking along the cliff face. A long shear green cloak is draped over the figure. You can tell by the figures stature and graceful walk that this figure was a female. This female as she is walking along the cliff faces stops at a rock formation that seemed to be formed from normal erosion. She pushes on a rock that gave her a lot of resistance. When it finally gives the sound of escaping air could be heard. A large crack forms next to the rock formation. The crack becomes a seam and the seam becomes a door. The rock door grinds inward and to the left, leaving a very large cave entrance. The cave is very dark, for no light has entered a long many years. Layers of dust has settled on the floor and the female is the first to make foot prints in the dust. The cavern goes for about twenty feet and flows into a large antechamber. The female has a glowing white orb floating above her right hand. It gives off a glow just bright enough to illuminate two feet in front of her. As she enters the antechamber she speaks a few ancient words of magic and sends the orb to the top of the antechamber and causing it to become brighter. The chamber is three thousand feet squared by six hundred feet high. In the center of the chamber what appears to be large piles of emerald and amber stones. Nestled between the stones is a sleeping woman. The woman had long black hair and pale skin. She was breathing slow and deeply. Laying next to her was a pack and an emerald green handle great sword. The cloaked woman steps closer to the piles of stone. When she is in arms reach, she touches the edge of the emerald pile. She sends a slight energy wave through her fingers as she is touching the emeralds. The pile of emerald stones shift, in the mist of the emeralds an eye appears. The woman is taken back as the pile takes on a shape. A large head of emerald scales moves, shifts, and look at the woman. The woman realizes she just woke up a very large and, old emerald dragon. The woman pulls back her cloaked hood from her face. The dragons eyes become wide, and it speaks. "Hendrika? Why have you woken me?" The woman stands there her head tilted to the right, as if what the dragon says is gibberish. She shakes her head and says one word. "Myka." The dragon nods his head. She shapes her hands in a circle and places them in the center of her chest, then points toward Myka's lower neck were an emerald stone necklace is hanging. The dragon nods his understandment and touches his stone. His mind reaches for hers with such force that the woman grabs her head and falls to her knees. Realizing what he was doing he reduces his mental contact. Once the woman stands she speaks to him through her mind. 'Myka I am not Hendrika. My name is Muirne, I am a descendant of Hendrika the lone desert queen. There is no longer kings and queens. Your presence has only been known to the daughters of Hendrika, I am that daughter.' Thought Muirne. 'Speak to me with your tongue this connection tiers me.' Replies Myka as he releases his mind from hers. Muirne nods and speaks out loud. Myka lowers his head and nudges the pile of amber stones and the pale skinned woman. The amber stone pile shifts and becomes an amber dragon it is smaller than the emerald however it was still a large beast. The pale woman yawns and slowly opens her eyes. She rubs both the emerald and amber scales. "Why are we awake I feel as if we just went to sleep. I could sleep for another four hours," said the pale woman. She looks around and sees the same woman standing in front of Myka. "Greetings Hendrika why have we been awaken so soon," asked the pale woman. "Lana this is not Hendrika, she is called Mir... nee or something like that. She is a dee... see... tent of Hendrika. I think we have been asleep for many a years," said Myka. Muirne stands there not understanding the language of Myka and Lana, the only words she understood was Lana, Muirne, and descendant. When Myka is done speaking she looks toward the two dragons and woman. "Legends says that my ancestors helped you to fall a sleep. You have been asleep for four thousand years. The world is need of dragons once again," said Muirne. "Repeat." Was Myka's only response. The woman repeats every thing she said before. As Myka listens to the words his eyes show he is starting to understand. He was also thinking the same words to the amber dragon and Lana. When Muirne finishes speaking Lana turns toward the woman. "We have been asleep for four thousand years. What has happened while we slept," asked Lana. "I think first I need to stretch my legs and wings," said the amber dragon. Muirne nods and turns toward the cavern to show them the way out. Lana follows behind the woman, next is the amber dragon, then Myka. As He comes close to the cavern he stops. "My gods really. I remember this door being a lot bigger." His mate and the two women turn to see Myka crouched down and looking into the cavern. His emerald head barely fitting inside. Lana and the amber dragon laugh as they see that Myka has become too big for the cavern. "That is not funny Amallia and Lana. Now I have to change to Tynes just to get out. So much for stretching my wings," said Myka in the language he is use to. "What did he say," asked Muirne leaning over to Lana's ear. "You will see what is about to happen Hendrika's daughter," replied Lana. He steps back and sits on his hinge legs. His fore legs pull in and become a human skin color. His large wings shrink and disappear into his back. His neck and head take on the look of a human. When he is done, he looks as he did all those years ago, his dark hair with the slight green tint. His body is well built and strong. He notices that even in human form he was a lot bigger from when he remembers. Amallia sees her mate as she remembers. Her memories of a great love and romance. She remembers his arms, his strength and his love for her. She looks toward her sister and nods. Amallia changes to her elf form and runs into her mates arms. Muirne sees a very tall elf with slight tan skin and fiery red hair. Her hair is pulled back into a tight bun and top knot tail. A spear and round shield is strapped to her back. Her leather armor is the color of amber with emerald green trim. She sees that Myka has the same type of armor but his is emerald green with amber trim. They embrace and hold each other for a long period of time. They hold each other for so long that Lana becomes embarrassed. Muirne was standing there with wide eyes. When she can speak again she says. "I did not know dragons can change forms. Amallia is an elf. There has not been an elf in this world for over two thousand years. The elf and dark elves have been all extinct after the final wars." All four exit the caverns and for the first time in four thousand years, Amallia, Lana, and Myka see the sun going below the horizon. Myka and Amallia change forms again to stretch their legs and wings. They both stretch out their fore and hinge legs as if like a cat would when it first wakes up. Once they are completely stretched they leap into the air. As they gain altitude they roll and spin into the clouds. Lana watches her brother and sister soar into the air, a smile is on her face. She watches as they fly, their air acrobatics looks as if two large birds were playing a game of tag. Lana closes her eyes for a few seconds, when she opens them again Myka is swooping down. He levels off three feet from the sand and flybys Lana. She grabs his right foreleg as he pulls back into the atmosphere. With strength and grace his sister climbs to his back. The two dragons begin to fly around each other again. The emerald flips over his back and Lana falls off. As she falls Muirne holds her breath. However Amallia flies under her sister and she lands safely on the ambers lower neck area. Myka then dives below his mate and Lana leaps to her dragon of heart and spirit. Muirne watches the trio's acrobatics with eyes of awe and wonderment. Without her knowing it Myka dives down to the beach. From behind Muirne he grabs the lone queen daughter with his right fore leg, and places her on the ambers back. Muirne was caught by surprise and yells of terror could be heard for a mile around her. Muirne grabs what she can with her legs and arms as tightly as she can. The emerald and amber dragons land. Lana slides off of her brothers neck with a large smile on her face. Muirne is hanging onto the neck of Amallia with her eyes closed, screaming at the top of her lungs. "Lady Muirne you can let go now," said Lana as she steps next to her sister rubbing her snout. "NOT UNTIL I AM SAFELY ON THE GROUND," yelled Muirne who was still hanging on so tightly her knuckles were white and her eyes closed. "You are on the ground Mi’lady, open your eyes and you shall see," said Lana with a larger smile on her face trying not to laugh. Muirne slowly opens her eyes. The world was still spinning to her, but she saw she was indeed on the ground. She sits up, releasing her grip of her hands, but her legs would not move. Myka by this time has changed forms and was walking up to her. He puts out his left hand to help her down. She takes his hand but her legs would not let go. With a large crooked smile, and trying not to laugh he reaches up and lifts her off his mates neck. When Muirne is safely on the ground she falls to her knees feeling the ground under her. When the world stops moving on her she stands up, with anger in her eyes. "Why did you do that. I do not like heights, and I do not like being picked up like a kitten in her mothers maw," said Muirne. "I do apologize for that. We thought not to have you feel left out of our awakening also we had to get you off that beach. I could return you to the beach and you can climb up the cliffs if you like," replied Amallia. Muirne relaxes her face. "No, I am just not use to flying on the back of a dragon. Just next time warn me before you do that again. And do not call me lady or Mi’lady, Muirne is fine," remarked Muirne. "We can not promise you that, but for now I am hungry and we need to be told why we were woken. For now we will stay in our human, and elf race forms, and walk," said Myka. Muirne nods her head and leads them over the grassy fields to a large what appears to the trio a castle. Myka and the two women are looking around the island. They notice there is no sand or palm trees. Everything was green rolling hills. The grass was as high as Muirne knees. There were sheep roaming the grasslands eating it down to numbs. "This is not Solman. It was a desert isle with palm trees and sand dunes. We liked the sand for it shines and polishes our scales," remarked Myka. "I have never heard of Solman. Our island nation is called Islesbury. Twenty miles to the east is a second island called Dawsbury. They say at one time the two islands were one," replied Muirne. The grasslands gives way to a path that was covered with black stone patches. The path seemed very old and they could tell at one point was very smooth and easy to walk on. The woken trio follow this path for a short while and arrive to an area that seemed to them as many towers built closely to each other. The towers were very tall and had many windows. Some towers were missing whole walls. "What is this place," asked Amallia. "This use to be called home. The last wars destroyed this great city four hundred years ago. These buildings are the only thing left. This is where people would conduit money moving and other management positions," explained Muirne. "They must of been large people to need a tower this large to move gold and silver around," said Myka. "They did not use gold and silver during that time. They used paper money," replied Muirne. Myka looks at the women with a confused look. Muirne explains some what about the money exchanges, but Myka just gives up trying to understand the past world and continues out of the ruined city. Outside the ruined city is a smaller house. It was a single floor with a slanted roof. The walls of this house seemed to be one stone that was hallowed out with a doorway and windows that looked as if they were chiseled out. Inside was wood furnishings, chairs, tables and a large iron inclosed sphere. The sphere was of black color and a front feeding hatch. A large iron tube was connected to the sphere and ascended to the ceiling, a large pile of wood was stacked next to the sphere, and a fire was burning inside. Muirne retrieves two large boars that seemed to be already roasted. Four goblets for drinking and two wheat cakes. Myka smiles as he sees the goblets and reaches inside his pack. He pulls out a 1 gallon aspen wood cask. "Oh gods what do you think that is going to taste like after four thousand years, love," said Amallia. "Being in a wood cask it should be the smoothest, most sweetest mead that has ever existed. Or it could just be vinegar," replied Myka. "In that case you first brother," said Lana. Myka pulls the old cork from the cask, and smells the contents. He shrugs and pours a small amount in his goblet. He sips the mead and smiles his crooked smile. "Just a little love of an emerald to make it special," said Myka as he pours the mead into the other three goblets. Amallia and Myka start to eat their boar and the two women eat their cakes. While eating Lana looks toward Muirne. "So tell us why have we been awaken after all these years Muirne," asked Lana. Muirne calmly sets her fork down and looks at the brother and the two sisters with an intense and concerned face. "The need for the last two dragons and the last rider is because of two men. One has been tracking and fighting the second for over two hundred years. From what information I have been able to find is that you three may know them both. Their names are Alexander Mortisen, and Sabation Connor. You may know them as Stailman and Kamah," replied Muirne, the two dragons and the rider look at each other in surprise and wonderment. |
