So, I've been desperately trying to fill out the forms and copy JK's chronological timeline in order to outline my story. Yet I've kept coming up against a huge brick wall. But when I simply sat down and asked what is going to happen in my story, the words flowed. I guess my brain doesn't need a chart or a system or a million questions. I have a story that I want to tell and I need to just get rid of the pretense and tell it.
Oh, and I cut 3 characters from my novel and made it flow so much better. I have backstory to add in, but it feels so good to that the meat of the tale completed!
Sorry, I just had to share. My advice if all the helpful forms and questions and outlines are not working, just sit down with some classical music at a panera bread and ask yourself; "Self, what is going to happen in my story?" I swear it works!
