The best option is to run. Grab your water bottle and emergency kit from beside your front door, open your door and run down the street. It's your choice whether to run toward or away. Toward means that your emergency kit will probably be used up within the next ten minutes on someone in need. Away means you risk other runners who have time to want what they don't have. Don't think about your car or your job. It's not there anymore.
Of course, running may not be an option. Perhaps you never made an emergency kit to keep by the door that holds everything you might need for the first seventy-two hours of an emergency. Perhaps, you are injured or in some situation that makes running implausible. I didn't say it was the only option, just the best one.
