When you first join the site, you receive automated emails that direct you to different resources that explain how to use the site. Make sure to make the most out of those emails and follow the links in them.

Other than that, you should also take a look at "Writing.Com 101" .

If you let me know what you're trying to learn specifically, I might be able to help you out by giving you directions which group to join or which activities to take part in.

One great way to get your creativity stimulated is to check out "The Writer's Cramp"  where there are daily prompts given. You have to come up with a story or a poem within 24 hours. It's the Daily Cramp after all. It's fun and low key and gets you to put something into your portfolio and also gets you noticed.
