Noticing Newbies

Hi again writing.com family,
I am having difficulty with the system. The system is not an automatic one in which a writer can posts a piece and click the submit button. I have experienced problems. There are short stories, narratives and poems, I desire to share with the community, but I can't figure out how it works. I did the reading, and discovered that there are rules to comply with. I have no issues with compliance, however, how does it work here? Most of the sites I write post for or submit writing materials into has an automatic system. The features here are many and in my opinion complex. Does the system have to be learnt? How do I go about this? Please help.
