Hey, Lisa! Welcome to Writing.com.  The site is amazing, however, it does look a bit overwhelming, but give it some time. My suggestion would be to click around and get used to the many pages. My best recommendation would be to check out "Writing.Com 101"  . It has everything listed in it - at least the basics of the site - which would help, especially for someone just trying to find their way, and make things easier on you.There are many links to so many items around here, even I tend to get lost, but don't hesitate to ask questions if you don't understand something or can't figure it out. We've all been there. So, jump in and have fun!
