A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
I don't think you have to buy the app if you don't want to. The website has a free online version ("Web App" in the lefthand menu) that can be used for the Writing Sprint bonuses. All you have to do is set it for fifteen minutes and write, then record your final wordcount at the end. (And copy/paste whatever you wrote in the Write or Die app in a separate document before you close out the writeordie.com page; the web app DOES NOT save what you write. That's one of the major differences between the web app and the purchased app, I believe.) The point of the Writing Sprint bonuses is for you to get a feel for how much fiction you can write in a single fifteen-minute burst, in preparation for the marathon writing of NaNoWriMo. You don't actually need to "show" that you did the bonus — the honor system is used in this competition — but if you wanted to, you would really only need to state the number of words you wrote in the fifteen minute period. Or you could present a copy of what you actually wrote in those fifteen minutes, if you wish. Up to you. That's my understanding of it as a fellow competitor. ~Dream Justly~ and Write Away |
