While I have never had carpal tunnel, I have been told one of the main things that causes it: how tight are your hands when you type? Are you clenching your wrists and fingers, are you strained when you're typing, holding a mouse, even holding a pencil?
What injures your hand is that nonstop pressure. A good way to keep carpal tunnel from happening, and, maybe, hopefully, lessening its effects, is to make sure your hands and wrists are relaxed and loose while you're working.
