I do have an e-reader which allows me to take a multitude of reading with me when we travel. This is much better than packing all those books, BUT I still have to bring one or two physical books.
I love the look of my stacks of books in different corners, and their spines beckoning me from the bookcase. Reading a book is such a sensory experience. The smell of the ink and paper of a new book with its crisp leaves promising a new adventure, or the powdery scent and soft velvet surfaces of a beloved old friend promising comfort and familiarity - this is all part of the experience for me.
Is it any wonder my first word was book, and my first job was in a library?
