I don't think PTSD is ever cured, because once the brain records the trauma(s), it or they are always there. Years ago my VA doctor sent me to one of the veteran ptsd groups. I didn't think I belonged because my ptsd was not combat related, but the doctor made his point. It didn't matter what the cause, the symptoms were the same for all of us. I learned a kind of role playing technique that, with practice can be helpful. I get complacent when things go okay for awhile, and then I screw up or get caught by surprise. It's like a "Jack in the Box" toy, where you keep turning the handle, the music plays, and suddenly the lid to the box opens and a clown pops up. Stuff the clown back in the box and close the lid. Things go fine until once again, the handle is turned enough times---cause and affect. Must remain ever vigilant, watching for the boogie-man. I pray for everyone with this disorder and wish for them long stretches of peace.
