The slider idea is great if not overdone. It's great for short phrases, or a few lines without filling the page with words and little room to use them.
Actually, I tried another tact: take something written, decompose to a set of words (and punctuation) for the slider, then see if anyone can figure it out.

We still have the hundred+ magnets with one word or suffix each on our fridge that my son got as a prize when he was in middle school. There are still some weird combinations that we made, and there are the great and standard sayings (Mom is love, etc.).
Sliders would be a great contest by giving a set of words and see who could come up ith the best short prose or poem, or use the most for something that makes sense. (I'm just an idea man. Someone who knows what they're doing can execute.)
