Basically what we're talking about is someone who feels hurt and betrayed and no longer trusts people that she still must interact with on a daily basis.
When I stop trusting people or feel betrayed by them, there's different courses of action I could take. I could A) confront them, B) ignore or avoid them, or C) plan retribution. There's also the possibility of a combination of these.
A confrontation would probably involve an argument or a well-reasoned discussion about what happened. This doesn't sound like it would further your story at this point. When I avoid or ignore someone, I tend to not want to be where they are and to become less responsive to any conversation they might attempt to make. Retribution involves exercising some form of power over another individual. These could be direct -- getting the housekeeper in trouble with her employment agency -- or indirect -- making her job more difficult and unpleasant to do.
When you feel hurt or betrayed, how do you respond to the person you think has betrayed your trust?
