True, writers with a background in something do tend to use that background when they tell their stories. Hard science fiction is an excellent example, but what about writers of genres or sub-genres that it's not quite possible to research? The Harry Potter books which are so popular among both adults and children are an excellent example. Terry Brooks and Orson Scott Card has also written a number books that lack researchable elements. How can it, or does it, apply in those situations?
