To me this seems to bring up a broader question. What is it to 'be' anything?
You know what a king is? A person, like any other, who wears a really expensive hat. So if I'm the son of a king, do you know what that makes me? The son of a person, like any other, who wears an expensive hat. You know what the Pope is if you take away his fancy clothes and hat? A person, like any other.
You know what a writer is? A person, like any other. We have the same faults and failings, the same fears and hates, the same prejudices and opinions. Don't get so hung up on what you call yourself, 'cause at the end of the day it's just words. I know it's rather vulgar for a writer to say such a thing, but I stand by it. Sometimes words are very important, and sometimes they're just words.
In the end you are defined as "witchhunter 34," or whatever you call yourself in the real world. It's not as if you can go through life with a big fat "writer" sticker on your forehead. No one and nothing can make you a writer; if you are then you are.
