[Introduction]
If there must be sorrow
Then let's invite it to crush us within an inch,
If there must be grief,
Let's allow it to flood through and leave us bereft on a ledge, alone and aching
If there must be passion,
Let us surrender to it, helpless and unstoppable.
If there must be pain
Then let us move toward the fire that sears our souls and changes us.
If there must be joy
Let us invite it to shriek right through us, like a mistral,
leaving us glowing and alive.

Let me see the eyes of death peering over the edge at me,
as my body strains to hold me here.
Break me, shape me, pull me,
Torture me.
Love me, fill me,
If there must be power
Then let me feel it,
And free myself
to experience the breadth and the depths
Of this thing called living.

If I was a wave in the ocean
I'd want to be one of those monsters -
A great wall of wild white water
Frothing, hurtling, roaring
into the rocks.
