The Captain Lady Cherry Larkson encounters trouble in high space! |

"Yeh, I know the story," a one-eyed man says. You look into the fleshy hole where an eye should be and gulp. It was a stupid idea to research the legend of Lady Cherry Larkson and how she had almost died- all stories have pointed you to this place- the shadiest bar in the galaxy, reknowned for the sins that take place in its four walls. "Well then, by all means," you pause and gulp again. "Go ahead." "Well, ya see, Lady Cherry Larkson was a witch! And she had immortal powers and could shoot a billion lasers outter her eyes! And she had the strength of a thousand men and could speak in the Devil's tongue! Ai- 'tis all true, everything I tell ye. Well, they say she was a sneaking about one day, cavortin' around with some strappin' lad named Jackson when they were all caught by some 'orrible monsert with rotting teeth an' NO EYES! Ai, 'tis true! He had one fewer eye than I, ai!" You raise an eyebrow- this man must be joking. You turn to leave, but he grabs you gently by the shoulder, almost surprisingly gently, and you turn back around. And to your surprise, there is no man there but a woman of tall stature, grace, and large red curls that tickle your nose. She smells of dried roses and adventure, of ship gasoline and the blood of a good fight. "You are..." You recognize her face- the noble nose and strong chin, the bright green eyes and shapely brows. "Lady Cherry Larkson," she grins mischeiviously. "Welcome to my home away from home. You thought I had disappeared? Oh my dearest child, you are mistaken. Sit down, and I will tell you the story- the story of when I was almost lost to the milk of the stars and the cold of space forever." You sit down. There is no way you'd ever disobey a walking legend. |
